Getting to Great Harbour Cay by boat is part of the adventure, offering a stunning introduction to the Berry Islands.
From Florida, the journey is about 120 nautical miles east of Miami, or roughly 70 nautical miles from Bimini. Many boaters depart from Miami, Fort Lauderdale, or Palm Beach, crossing the Gulf Stream toward Bimini or Chub Cay before continuing northeast to Great Harbour Cay. The approach is straightforward, with deep water access and clearly marked channels. Great Harbour Cay Marina is one of the most sheltered harbors in The Bahamas, ideal for both short visits and extended stays, and it offers Customs and Immigration services right on site.
From Nassau, the island lies about 36 nautical miles to the northwest, an easy half-day cruise across the New Providence Channel. Private charters and inter-island yachts often make the trip for weekend escapes.
Those exploring the neighboring islands will find Great Harbour Cay just 25 nautical miles from Chub Cay and about 30 to 40 nautical miles from Andros, making it a natural stop for island-hopping itineraries through the Berry Islands.
